Prep (pre-exposure prophylaxis) is an antiretroviral (ARV) drug that an HIV-negative individual may take before being exposed to HIV to minimize the risk of infection. Though Prep is a novel approach to preventing HIV Transmission, prophylaxis is not a novel idea or procedure. Preventing infection by taking antibiotics before being exposed to a germ or virus is known as prophylaxis. Prophylaxis is the practice of taking malaria drugs before travelling to a malaria-infected country. Truvada is currently the only ARV drug that is approved for use as Prep Other drugs are being tested, but no other drugs have been approved as Prep to date. Mob: +91-9871605858, 9136363692
